The IT Manager will report to Board of Directors and will be responsible for the following activities: - Coordinate the iMM Information Systems Unit, including managing its staff and defining its goals and mid/long-term strategies; - Design and implement IT solutions for both research and management needs at iMM; - Maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware; - Provide second-line helpdesk support to iMM users; - Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems; - Manage and develop iMM Intranet and databases; - Maintain and configure informatics infrastructure, namely computer servers, tape robot and IBM central storage; - Administer High Performance Computing servers and virtualization platforms; - Act in alignment with user needs and system functionality to contribute to organizational policy; - Identify problematic areas and implement timely strategic solutions, namely by auditing systems and assessing their outcomes; - Handle Unit’s annual budget and ensure cost effectiveness. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in information technology, computer science, software engineering, or a related field; proven management and leadership skills; strong creative and analytical thinking; professional certifications; proficiency in English language, oral and written. Essential Skills • Proven experience as system administrator and manager of IT infrastructure and services; • Advanced knowledge in administration and maintenance of Linux (CentOS / Debian) servers and Windows Server; • Good knowledge of virtualization platforms (e.g.: VMWare, Hyper-V); • Good knowledge of networks (including administration and installation, firewalls, TCP/IP) and databases (e.g.: SQL Server, MySQL); • Basic knowledge of switching, firewalls and server/storage hardware; • Basic knowledge of scripting (e.g. bash, powershell) and task automation; • Expertise in data center management and data governance, enterprise backup and recovery procedures; • Strong interpersonal, leadership, teamwork and team management skills; • Excellent presentation skills and ability to build relationships with all USERS; • Autonomy and sense of responsibility; • Proactive attitude, resilience and capability to work under pressure; • Good organizational, planning and project management skills, allowing for task prioritization and focus on efficacy; • Ethical conduct in all daily tasks. Preferred Skills • Advanced knowledge in the configuration and optimization of services in Linux systems, namely in High Performance Computing; • Experience in design and implementation of complex systems (e.g. high availability, redundancy, clustering, monitoring and alarmistics, Helpdesk and Tickets, data storage); • Knowledge in programming (e.g. Python); • Professional experience in academia and/or research, with ability to think “out of the box”; • Training in biological or biomedical sciences. • Working Conditions: Allocated workspace in the USI Office and access to Institutional facilities and services.
